The Lunaria (Lunaria annua) is known for its round and translucent fruits, often called "pope coins" because of their resemblance to silver medals. These dried fruits are used in decorative floral compositions. The plant is also a symbol of sincerity and honesty, since the word "lunaria" comes from the Latin "luna", recalling the lunar shine of the fruits.

Native to south-eastern Europe, it is a biennial plant that attracts pollinating insects such as bees and butterflies. The Lunaria is resistant and adapts well to shady gardens.
